PARIS is the payroll adjustment entry system that interfaces with Banner. The application was developed in partnership with University Payroll & Benefits (UPB), Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS), Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and OBFS Business Solutions and Support (BSS).  It uses similar technology developed for the Human Resources Front End (HRFE) application, and its functionality is being rolled out in phases.

PARIS Adjustments

PARIS includes the ability to process Current Pay Adjustments (CPA) during payroll calculation and Prior Underpayment Adjustments (PUA).

COVID-19 Emergency Sick Leave ***Important Information***

Stay At Home Order

For non-exempt hourly employees who are being paid but not able to work onsite or remotely, it may be necessary to use specific earn codes for tracking purposes. Contact Human Resources for clarification on how to report for these employees.

If you are not able to view the required earn codes, change your user preferences for the Payroll Record View. See the job aid Setting User Preferences for Earn Codes.

Families First Coronavirus Response Act Adjustments

Employees who miss work due to COVID-19 may be eligible for two weeks of emergency sick leave paid at full pay or 2/3 pay. In addition, employees may be eligible for 10 weeks of COVID-19 expanded FMLA leave at 2/3 pay.

See the System HR Families First Coronavirus Response Act resource page for more information.

Human Resources will update job records as needed to accommodate approved emergency pay leave situations for eligible employees. If job records are not updated before payroll calculation, a Current Pay Adjustment (CPA) can be used to pay the employee correctly and prevent a payroll overpayment.

Job Aids

If the CPA window has passed up to three days before pay day, your options depend on the rate of payment:

  1. Payment is for sick leave paid at 66.67%
    1. A Pay Stop transaction should be submitted in the Adjustment Notification Application (ANA) to cancel payment and prevent a payroll overpayment. See the Submitting a Pay Stop Request job aid for instructions.
    2. Initiate a Prior Underpayment Adjustment (PUA) in PARIS to get the employee correctly paid. Central Management Service (CMS) deductions, such as insurance, will not be withheld.
See below for information about training requirements for access to initiate or review/approve PUAs.
  2. Payment is for sick leave paid at 100%.

If pay is the correct amount, adjust the leave balances with a Leave Balance Adjustment in ANA. Do not submit a Pay Stop or PUA. View the Adjustment Notification Application (ANA) Job Aids for instructions.

If the employee received full pay, but some or all pay should have been at the 66.67% rate, then the employee has been overpaid. You will need to submit an Overpayment request in ANA so that UPB can begin collection activities.
