Travel Assistance

University of Illinois System employees have access to three travel assistance programs, two of which are provided at no cost as part of employee benefits. The third plan is available at a cost with additional coverage and features the international traveler may wish to explore. Travelers are encouraged to review the programs to determine if the features offered are satisfactory for their particular needs. Enrollment may or may not be required as indicated below:

Minnesota Life offers travel assistance through RedpointWTP, LLC

All active U.S. employees covered under the basic group life insurance program through the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services are automatically covered. RedpointWTP, LLC provides basic emergency travel assistance services, transport services, and pre-trip resources to eligible employees and their dependents for national or international travel. Enrollment is not required and there is no cost for the coverage.

The Hartford offers travel assistance through Europ Assistance USA

Europ Assistance USA provides toll-free emergency assistance to employees and their dependents with pre-trip information, emergency medical assistance, emergency personal services (national or international level), and Identity Theft Assistance.

Gallagher Special Risk International Travel Insurance

University of Illinois System faculty, staff, and their dependents who travel internationally may want to explore the features in the system's international travel insurance program, administered by Gallagher Special Risk. There is a cost for this coverage and enrollment is required. This program provides comprehensive travel related services and additional international health insurance benefits.
