Direct Deposit Banking

The Office of Business and Financial Services, Payroll Division and Student Accounts Receivable have implemented changes in the distribution of payroll and student refunds payments. These changes will improve timeliness of payment to the payee and reduce costs incurred by the University of Illinois System.

Employee Payroll Deposits

Effective July 1, 2011 all employees will receive their pay through direct deposit to an account with a financial institution or automatically have their pay deposited on a pay card.

How to enroll in direct deposit:

  • Visit
  • Select My UI Info Tab
  • In the My Pay section, you can choose Direct Deposit & Pay Card
  • Click Direct Deposit in the Take Action Section
  • Login (2FA required for action outside university network login)
  • Click Edit Direct Deposit
  • Answer the question about deposits in U.S. Accounts & then click Continue to finish setting it up
  • Click Submit

Employees without an active direct deposit account prior to receipt of first pay will receive funds on a pay card. These cards must be picked up at your University Payroll & Benefits office for activation.

For employees having issues and need to update their direct deposity account, please complete the Authorization for Payroll Distribution.

Student Account Refunds

Enrollment for direct deposit of student account refunds is now available. Effective January 3, 2005, all student account refunds will be processed via direct deposit to an account with a financial institution. For more information see the student accounts Web page:
