Orientation for New Business and Finance Employees

LINK Program

Advanced Topic Discussions - Linking New Business Managers with Subject Experts

General Description

The LINK program is a companion to the OBFS Overview and provides a more in-depth opportunity for those employees who have managerial-level business and financial responsibilities in their units and/or who are new to the campus or to their positions.

The LINK program offers attendees a one-time, in-depth discussion session and opportunity to meet functional area leaders and staff from OBFS and other offices. The program meets one time each month from August through May, with a different topic discussed each month (see Calendar for schedule details). Sessions are held from 8:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Illini Plaza Conference Room 204 (second floor). There is ample parking at this location.

LINK sessions are not training sessions. Attendees are invited to bring their questions and group discussion is highly encouraged. LINK is designed to allow new managers to connect with the OBFS leaders/staff members who can assist them with specific questions and concerns. It also allows the OBFS functional area leaders an opportunity to stress critical information to new managers. Attendance is limited in order to maintain small, intimate sessions.

Invitations are sent first to people who have attended the OBFS Overview. If there are remaining seats available, members of the BMG are invited (via a message to the BMG list) to attend or nominate others from their unit to attend. We encourage attendance by those who are newer to their positions, but accept all requests for the available seats on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are interested in being invited to an upcoming LINK session, or would like a member of your staff to be invited, please contact BSS Training Support at
