External Audits

The University is subject to and complies with the Illinois State Auditing Act, 30 ILCS 5/1 (1998) which authorizes the State Auditor General to perform financial and compliance audits of all state agencies, including the University of Illinois, on a regular basis. State audits are conducted by certified public accounting firms hired by the State Auditor General to serve as special assistant auditors.

During the course of an external audit, unit staff may be contacted by the external auditors or, in some cases, University staff members coordinating the collection of audit information. Units may contact their campus OBFS chief business officer if they have questions or concerns regarding an external audit information request.
