Request Cards or Fobs for Proximity Access

Before You Begin

A proximity card or key fob uses an embedded circuit and antenna to relay access information when it is near - in proximity - to a reader. No swiping needed. All proximity cards, key fobs, and other proximity devices used at the University of Illinois must be ordered from i-card Programs.

There are 3 types of proximity devices:

  • Individual ID cards that look and work like regular ID cards, and are associated with one person.
  • Department cards
  • Department key fobs

Begin

To request cards or fobs for proximity access:

  • Contact the i-card Help Desk (217-265-6464 or icardhelp@uillinois.edu). They will work with you to determine which type of proximity device will best meet your needs.
