OBFS Policy Development Process
The Office of Business and Financial Services (OBFS) Policy Development Process guides the submission, review, approval, and communication of new and updated OBFS policies and procedures. OBFS Policies is responsible for coordinating the activities involved in the five main phases of the process.
Submission of Request
OBFS units and leadership identify needs and make requests to update or create policies and procedures. OBFS Policies works with the requestor to outline project need, scope, impact, stakeholders, timelines, and desired outcomes.
The Senior Associate Vice President Advisory Council (SAVPAC) reviews requests to update or create policies and procedures, and sets policy development priorities.
Stakeholders help write and review content. Stakeholders may be from OBFS, University of Illinois System Offices, or campus units. Stakeholders also help evaluate perceived impact.
Open Comment Period
OBFS Policies post the proposed policy or procedure changes online for review. University employees can submit feedback during this two-week time period.
OBFS Policies publishes approved content in the Business and Financial Policies and Procedures Manual, and communicates changes through the OBFS News Service.
