University of Illinois electronic Research Administration (UI eRA)

August 2011 Update

In 2010, UI eRA merged with AITS. In support of that change, planning began to consolidate the UI eRA website with the AITS website, and those plans are now ready to be implemented.

The UI eRA website content will be transitioned to the AITS website on the weekend of September 16-18 and the UI eRA website will be removed. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience as our customers and partners will need to update any bookmarks/favorites to the new site’s URLs. The impact of this may be minimized by the bulk of the material being kept in the same structural organization as it presently exists on the UI eRA site, but as a new section of the AITS site. However, some information will be combined with existing AITS pages or in other locations. With this consolidation, an enhanced and easier search function will assist with finding the information being sought.

Additional information will be provided on this website until the transition takes place. If you have any questions during this transition period, we invite you to contact us at uierahelp@uillinois.edu

University of Illinois electronic Research Administration (UI eRA)

The project to implement the electronic pre-award system to the University community has been named University of Illinois electronic Research Administration (UI eRA), and it has several distinct modules and phases, including Proposal Tracking and Proposal Development.

Electronic research administration (eRA) is the future for research administration. eRA encompasses everything from searching for funding opportunities to submitting proposals electronically to tracking their progress.

Currently, many federal agencies and other sponsors have mandated the electronic submission of proposals. The number of federal agencies requiring electronic submission through grants.gov is expected to increase rapidly as a result of a congressional mandate requiring agencies to move from paper to electronic systems. Non-federal organizations also continue to move toward electronic systems in an effort to streamline the proposal process.

In response to these changes, and as the University strives to streamline the administration of sponsored projects and the submission of electronic proposals, the University of Illinois has chosen the InfoEd software suite to administer its pre-award eRA system.

University of Illinois electronic Research Administration (UI eRA) is a University Project sponsored by the following offices:
