University Investments

University Investments Office provides oversight of the investment management of the University of Illinois investment programs (approx. $1.5 billion market value).  This area encompasses the University’s Endowment Funds, Operating Funds, and Plant Funds.  A majority of University investment assets are managed by external investment management firms.  Staff handles the investment manager relationships in consultation with the University’s investment consultant.  University staff monitors the investment managers that are entrusted with the University’s investment assets to ensure they in are compliance with manager guidelines and investment policies approved by the Board of Trustees.

University Investments handles periodic portfolio rebalancing to ensure that asset class investments are within established policy guidelines; funds and manages private equity capital calls and distributions; and funds budgeted spending.  University Investments coordinates with managers to meet University liquidity needs.  University Investments also internally manages debt issuance proceeds (approx. $160 million in market value) in compliance with the Illinois Public Funds Act.
