Risk Management

The University Office of Risk Management (UORM) is essentially the insurance agent for the University of Illinois and serves the entire University, which includes all campuses, regional sites, and Extension offices.  Its offices are located on the Urbana-Champaign campus.  The UORM was established at the direction of the Board of Trustees in 1976.

The UORM is responsible for the University’s Medical Malpractice, Public & Board Legal Liability, Workers’ Compensation, and Commercial Property insurance programs.  Since its inception, the UORM has strived to use effective risk management techniques while improving the delivery of UORM’s services in support of the University’s mission.  The office has the responsibility of carrying out the policies of the University of Illinois in matters relating to risk management and insurance.
