New Equipment Management
Equipment Acquisition Methods
The University assumes title to equipment that is acquired through purchase, constructed using University funds, or received as a donation or transfer. There are different rules and requirements for equipment based on how equipment is acquired. See Ways to Acquire Equipment section for additional information on each acquisition method.
Recording new equipment
When a department acquires a new fixed asset, the department's property contact records the new item in Banner Fixed Asset using FABweb. Please see Recording New Equipment section for more details and instructions.
To login to the FABweb Application use the menu on the right or go directly to FABweb Login.
Reference Numbers and Labels
In addition to recording new acquisitions in FABweb, the department's property contact tags new items. The tagging process involves physically placing the correct kind of label on the item to identify it and associate it with its fixed asset record in Banner.
See Reference Numbers and Labels section for more information about different types of tags, reference number assignment, exceptions to labeling/marking, positioning of label/marking.
Training/Resources
Individuals responsible for equipment management should complete the various training sessions listed to the right. See Accounting & Financial Reporting Training Materials section for information on other courses offered, find job aids, and other training materials.
