Make Employee Award Payments in ANA
Before You Begin
Award payments include cash, gift certificate, and cash equivalents. The awards must be pre-approved and presented in a meaningful ceremony. When done through ANA, awards are always employment related, taxable as wages, and deposited directly into the awardee's bank account after the ceremony date.

To make employee award payments in ANA:
- Plan ahead:
- Allow 10 days to process the award.
- For awards less than $400, obtain the approval of your unit head.
- For Springfield, awards less than $400 also require the approval of the Chancellor or his/her designee.
- For awards more than $400, obtain the approval of your campus chancellor or his/her designee.
- Determine how much you want the employee to receive:
- Net Award (unit increases award amount to cover taxes withheld) -- Use the online Gross-up Calculator to calculate what the total amount must be to ensure the employee will “take home” the desired amount.
- Gross Award (unit does NOT increase the award to cover taxes withheld).
- Process through ANA.
