Remove Data from Electronic Devices
Before You Begin
The University is subject to and complies with the Data Security on State Computers Act which mandates elimination of data from electronic/magnetic storage devices when the device is disposed, transferred, or scrapped.
Begin
To remove data from electronic devices:
- Consult the State of Illinois Data/Disposal, Recycling, and Computer Hardware list to determine whether the device contains electronic/magnetic storage media and requires data elimination. The list includes such items as cell phones, scanners, photocopiers, and calculators.

Springfield - Use FABweb to transfer the item to UIS Information Technology Services. They will wipe the data.
